ALLIANCE MEDICAL MINISTRY COMMUNITY GARDEN
Did you know that around 117,000 Wake County residents are uninsured? This makes it very difficult for them to access healthcare. Today, we want to celebrate our neighbors, Alliance Medical Ministry, a non-profit in Raleigh that works hard to increase access to healthcare for uninsured adults by providing medical care to working uninsured adults in Wake County. Not only do they provide healthcare, but they also give FREE PRODUCE to their patients fresh from the garden located on site! Here they also offer opportunities to relax and de-stress, through cooking or yoga classes in their garden. Their value for health and wholeness is amazing! We are so proud to partner with them!
A few weeks ago, Leslie and some members of Logan's Community Team got a chance to visit Alliance in Raleigh, NC. Surrounded by the bees, pollinator plants, vegetables, and pear trees, Ruthie (Alliance Medical Ministry Volunteer Coordinator) shared with us excitedly shared with us how many patients will attend their medical appointments at the ministry and then grab an eggplant or a few squashes from the garden behind the building on their way out.
